The popular Brazilian was believed to be in talks with Besiktas

According to reports in the Liverpool Echo in the past hour, fears of Liverpool fans about the future of Lucas Leiva appear unfounded, despite constant links with moves away from the club in the last couple of weeks.

The local newspaper claims that Lucas has not been in talks about a loan move to Besiktas and, given captain Jordan Henderson’s injury which is likely to see him out of the next couple of games – at least – Lucas may find himself taking up a place on the bench. Perhaps even a place in the starting line up.

Lucas has looked almost certain to leave in recent weeks and it’s been clear since Rodgers took charge than he has never been a fan, either of Lucas himself, or of the role he performs with Gerrard, Henderson or Allen taking up the defensive midfield role. But – once again – Lucas may find himself with an opportunity to play himself back into the manager’s plans against Arsenal tomorrow night.

But whereas Lucas staying would be positive news for many Reds fans, the Echo are also reporting that Balotelli hasn’t been in talks over a return to Milan on loan. The striker has been in Italy over the weekend and it fans were under the impression he was in talks with his form club, but the paper has denied these claims, saying that the Italian was simply on a weekend break, having been given time off by the club.

Would you be glad to see either – or both – of these players stay at Anfield? Let us know your thoughts on these claims in the comments.

I would like to see both of them stay… especially Lucas is the longest serving player & his proper DM, which none of the others are, for Baloteli I feel he need a chance.

It will be the most mistake to let lucas go when the team needs him more than ever, with Henderson injured and Ass is near, liverpool needs a strong mid field

Lucas is part of the liverpool family, he should retire at Liverpool or atleast leave the club at the age Gerrard did. As for Baloteli He deserves a chance to prove himself with a proven striker. The B&B(Beteke nd Baloteli) partnership could be the most unstoppble striking force
