Markovic is set to be loaned to Turkish side Fenerbahce for a season

Liverpool fans will have awoken this morning to news that Lazar Markovic is set to join Turkish side Fenerbahce on a season-long loan. The 21 year old winger had joined Liverpool last summer for £20 million and, while not quite living up to expectations, did show flashes of the player the club had thought they’d bought.

However, it seems that Brendan Rodgers believes 12 months in Turkey will do the Serbian winger good. Quite how he works that one out, we’re not too sure. The Turkish league is probably not even on par with the Portuguese league, at present, so the player will be stepping down even further than before he joined.

It certainly is a strange one. It makes sense to loan Markovic out, if Rodgers has no intention of giving him much game time this season but it would surely make more sense to loan him to a lower placed Premier League side or a team in a slightly stronger division.

Meanwhile, Fabio Borini is again being told to move after having been informed many times that he has no future at Anfield.

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that the Italian striker is ‘dragging his heels’ over a move, with the likes of Fiorentina and Inter Milan showing an interest in the player, along with a couple of Premier League sides.

Borini featured infrequently last season and is likely to not even spend any time on the bench this season, and Rodgers has made it clear many times that one of his first signings at Liverpool would be leaving.

While the club are keen to get some of the money back that was paid out for him in 2012, the Echo reports that the Reds would be open to loaning him out, should it come to that.

Why is Markovic being loaned to Fenerbache? There are plenty of Premier league clubs who would loan him, help him get more Premier League experience and possibly take points of our rivals? Even if he has a fantastic season in Turkey we will have learnt nothing new in regards of whether he can be a top Premier League player. How stupid can people running a multimillion pound business be ?
