Benteke was the Reds outstanding player last night

A bit of a late player ratings after last night’s game, but that’s partly due to not knowing quite how to feel after that win.

In many ways, you can agree with what Skrtel said following the game in that, a win is a win, and that’s all that matters. But for Liverpool, and Brendan Rodgers, just scraping through games won’t cut it this season, as we’ll eventually be found out.

Liverpool lined up in much the same way as against Stoke last week and, much like that game, the players struggled their way through the opening hour. Things didn’t get much better following Emre Can’s introduction this time around though, as he wasn’t being introduced to free up Henderson and Milner, he was replacing the captain, leaving Liverpool with a case of ‘same problems, different player’.

And that problem seems to revolve, primarily, around Brendan Rodgers insistence on playing the current formation, and the players he is trying to shoeborn into that system.

While Milner and Henderson may not necessarily start side-by-side, they are both essentially central midfielders and Liverpool are often finding themselves swamped through the middle – it is something Brendan Rodgers simply has to resolve before heading to the Emirates next Monday, as Arsenal won’t be as forgiving in front of goal.

All formation/selection gripes aside, some players just didn’t turn up last night. Check out our ratings below to find out who we thought let the team down!

We won 2 games that we should expect to without playing well. A better test next Monday , was very disappointed with firminho , looked off the pace . Lallana running around commiting himself to early allowing the opposition to waltz past him . He also looked like he was laughing the whole time and that it wasn’t an important game . What could have been if we had clyne instead of Jonson 2 years ago ! Moreno was superb when introduced . Hope Can will perform well with Hendersons being injured
