The new Premier League season may only be four games old but there are already signs that Liverpool’s new right back – Nathaniel Clyne – is superb value for money.

Gone are the days of never knowing what you’ll get from his predecessor, as it now seems that consistency is the way forward with Clyne being one of only 2-3 players that have impressed since the season began.

And the former Crystal Palace and Southampton man believes that things will only further improve at his new club.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Clyne said: “I want to try to improve as a player and going to Liverpool which is a big club is another challenge for me and one that I’m looking to take on.

“I’ve done well since joining them and I’m looking to improve and get better as a player.

“[With England] I am here now to try to knock down a position at right-back and try to make it my own.

“It’s obviously going to be difficult because there are a lot of people who could play right-back and there’s a lot of competition but I’m looking forward to it and challenging for it.”

At present, it’s hard to see more than one or two players that could usurp Clyne in the England side (or the Liverpool team, for that matter) so he should have a clear run for the foreseeable future in both lineups.

And with a Europa League campaign to complement the Premier League and the European Championships next summer, this could well be a very busy 10 months for the 24 year old who will never have a better opportunity to establish himself as the best right back in the country.

How have you taken to Clyne at the moment, has he impressed you so far? Let us know your thoughts below.
