When you’re a young footballer that was never expected to be a hit at the top level, making it at one of the biggest clubs in the world is never going to be an easy proposition.

So when Danny Ings signed for Liverpool, who already had one of the best strikers in Europe on their books, in the same summer as two new £30 million forwards you can only imagine that that proposition got that much harder.

But, for Ings, it’s all about working hard and applying yourself and in doing that the former Bournemouth striker has already begun endearing himself to Liverpool’s fans and now looks to be ahead of Benteke.

And another player that normally gives his all for the cause has been highly impressed with Ings so far. Speaking via the Liverpool Echo, Skrtel said:

“I know he didn’t score (against Liverpool last season) but facing him was tough, really tough.

“I remember how he never stopped running and moving.

“If you switched off for even a second he was gone and he’s been the same in training here. I’m glad he’s with us now.

“The amount of work he puts in every day is huge and I’m hoping he can score lots of goals this season.”

The Echo are reporting that Ings could be rested against Sion at Anfield this week, ahead of the derby on Sunday, showing that it isn’t just his fellow players who have noticed how impressive Ings has been in his short time at the club so far.

Has Ings impressed you so far; should he be ahead of Benteke in the forward line pecking order? Let us know your thoughts below.

well Danny ings has really done well to earn a place in starting eleven for LFC…i think he shud be ahead of Benteke because he is a player that really has eyes on goals….And he never stops tourmenting his opponents…

Good to see Ings given a run.. At last. However he has no place over a benteke, Sturridge partnership. These two players have to be given the opportunity to form a partnership that is sure to leave opposition teams in fear. Save Ings as an impact player.!
