Redknapp seemed intent of winding Liverpool fans up

It hasn’t exactly been the most thrilling start to a Premier League season for Liverpool. Sure, we’ve won two, drawn one and lost one. Wins against eminently beatable opposition and a draw against a side (at home) that we tend to lose to are all results it’s hard to grumble over.

However, it’s the defeat at home to Redknapp’s former club, West Ham, that really grates and shows some indications that Liverpool are still struggling in familiar areas.

On the subject of Liverpool, Redknapp had this to say to Telegraph Total Football Live last night: “I don’t fancy Liverpool at all.

“I think it’s the worst Liverpool team I have seen in years. They look bang average. They are lucky to have any points.

“Bournemouth should have beaten them, they got a wonder goal at Stoke. OK, they played all right first-half at Arsenal. I think they will do well to finish in the top five. I am not with Liverpool at all this year. Having said that they will probably win the league.

“They lost Steven Gerrard, their leader. What a player. They lost Jamie Carragher the year before. They’ve lost their characters.

“Look at the two centre-halves on Saturday (Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel). The left-back (Joe Gomez) is a good young player who can’t kick with his left foot but he is playing at left-back. He’s a fantastic talent, strong, quick. But what will he give you on the left? He is on the wrong side. They look a badly balanced team to me. Sorry, I can’t have Liverpool.

“I love Liverpool Football Club, and if you said to me which team would I have loved to manage in this country it would be Liverpool – but I can’t see it this year.”

Inflammatory words, for a man professing to ‘love Liverpool’, or just a dose of reality? Many fans may agree that this Liverpool squad just isn’t strong enough. However, most would agree that, on paper, this is perhaps the strongest Liverpool squad since 2008-09 with the Reds looking in much healthier condition that some near rivals.

However, the former Spurs manager may have had more of a point if he’d pointed out that, while Liverpool have a good squad, the form and overall performances of that past four games show little to no improvement on the Liverpool of last season. Then he may have had a point. But with a number of new players to bed in and the season yet to really take shape, it’s a daft stance to take so soon.

With no job at the moment though Redknapp is resigned to getting his TV and radio time by making controversial statements and what better fan-base to rile that our very own?

How do you feel about Redknapp’s comments; do you agree with what he said? Let us know your thoughts on the former ‘almost England manager’ below.

Why some past managers are noisy and negative about other managers team activities instead of their own achievements in their tenure as manager in the past??

I agree with what Rednap has said and this is the worst ever liverpool team, alas because of the current manager who always familiarized to compel the players to play opposite side/position in which they can’t play or they are not so active.

And the manager is the one who is destroying the name of this club

    I agree with Harry,sack Rodgers,bring in Klopp

Totally agree with harry Brendan is slowly destroying lfc and most of us fans are starting to realize that Brendan just talks a good game.Only 4-5 months to go to next half of the season then mr klopp would be available .Owners will then realize that they have made a massive mistake backing Rodgers when were near the bottom of the league roll on january

Only problem is Klopp has stated he will only go to a “top ten” club..that excludes Liverpool unfortunately. Rodgers is a disaster, but what top line caoch can Liverpool snag? I don’t see any coming.

    RODGERS = S***

Its like the fight has gone out of brendan. When he 1st came to lfc it was fast attacking now its sit back and hope 1 of the player’s will score a lucky goal . Get ya fight back..

Hmmmm, interesting days ahead,Harry has said it all… let someone says he is not right, lets be frank, yes as a fun, is very difficult to admit but tht s the reality Rodgers is totally confuse, the momment u see any manager doing rampant signings then one can easily conclude that the manager don’t no what he is all about.nd as for Rodger,he is not just wasting money I personally think he got low self esteem too tht is how com he could not manage players like Gerald and Mario nd only signs second place players…Mario for instance,at Inter played as a winger City at times played as a winger so one would have thought that by the exit of Stealing, nd the inclusion of Bentake would have seen Mario on the 7 position instead of that slow growing Ibe.is sad but all is not lost yet that is why we are called Reds “we will never walk alone “

Harry is ‘ bang on ‘ right

To me, the lending of Markovic, ( with an option to buy) is the most significant sign that Rogers has finally lost i!. As with most loans, the question has to be asked ” if a manager is so good at bringing young players on and getting the best out of them” as Rogers is reputed to be, why does he have to literally give him away for another manager to do the job for him. At this rate we might as well give the Academy to some one else.
I feel Brendan has backed himself into a corner and doesn’t know the way out. I think the only answer is a change of manager, as I feel the players will lose confidence in a manager who is displaying a less than assured attitude.

Harry is right. The curent squad appeared so weak and frangile.
