Many, if not most, fans feel it’s time for Rodgers to go

Brendan Rodgers is a dead man walking.  After scraping through on penalties on Thursday night against League Two minnows Carlisle, who have conceded 17 goals in eight games, it shows what a desperate situation the club are in at present. The sad reality is that this is not just a ‘blip’ but we have been searching for answers for months.

Fenway Sports Group should have relieved Rodgers of his duties on 24th May 2015 and moved forward into this current campaign with a clean slate and appointed a manager who had the experience and knowledge to galvanise a squad but who ultimately is a winner to take the club to the next level – step forward Carlo Ancelotti.

Let’s face facts we were lucky against Stoke, Bournemouth, and Arsenal (how we kept clean sheets in those three matches I will never know) and got what we deserved when we played West Ham and Manchester United. Liverpool would be bottom of the league only for Coutinho’s last gasp winner on the the opening day and Benteke’s offside goal.

We cannot continue to paint over the cracks that are all there for people to see, Liverpool were once a power house in Europe and domestically – opposition teams feared us, now it’s the norm for teams to setup to ‘park the bus’ and it hit us on the counter attack, Liverpool have no idea how break teams down in addition to this side-to-side football it is predictable and demonstrates that the players lack a clear sense of direction and look confused in the way Brendan has set out his starting 11’s to play.

I will say this one more time Brendan is tactically inept and is totally out of his depth – square pegs round holes. Play players in their proper positions and allow them to flourish.

If people genuinely think that we are better team without Gerrard now just shows how average we have become. The team had no leadership or anyone to get the game by the scruff the neck. James Milner is not captain material he couldn’t inspire a generation never mind 11 players on a football pitch. He can run around all he likes but for all his experience he needs to improve massively on his corner taking, holding the ball up and stop giving needless free-kicks away which put the team under immense pressure.

Origi and Firmino need to show why the club invested heavily in them. I know that they are young and need to adapt, with a language barrier, etc. however football language is universal and you should be able to pass the ball. What I have seen so far is not good enough – Origi looks disinterested and does not seem comfortable it’s like he is waiting for someone to say to him ‘stand here, pass the ball now.’ He needs to anticipate when the ball is going to be in the box and make himself available. It may be is best if he is loaned out in January.

As for Roberto Firmino he needs to step up to the mark and show his potential, I hope he not going to be someone who gets a knock and needs to go off due to the fact cannot deal with the physicality of the English game.

We should not need to depend on one player like Coutinho to get us out of the mire like we did with Suarez he cannot do it all on his own. The players around him need to take responsibility as a whole.

Adam Bogdan (aka Ed Sheeran) saved our blushes with three saves in the shootout but I saw nothing that will put pressure on Simon Mignolet for the number one spot. Both goalkeepers look nervous and unable to command their area which highlights that John Achterberg needs to be shown the door as this has been an ongoing problem for years.

The players need to take a leaf out of Danny Ings’ book who has endeared himself to the crowd already for his tenacity, hunger and willingness to chase lost causes (the only positive over the last few games).

People say if you cannot support the team when they win lose or draw then they are just a fan and not a supporter, well I will say this: I have been going the game for a very long time and been there through the good and bad getting behind the lads. We all want them to do well, we are Liverpool Football Club after all however the fans can only sing, chant and be the 12th man for so long before patience will run out completely.

Players likes Firmino have to really step up, going forward

The club sacked Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson for less; we are sinking quicker than the Titanic.

Sam Cunningham of the Daily Mail sums up Rodgers right now ‘The crown is on your head, my friend. You are the king of your destiny.’ – Brendan Rodgers.

But Rodgers’ crown is beginning to slip to one side and the issue with that advice is that kings have been mercilessly usurped and executed throughout history.

The brutal truth is a change has got to happen before it is too late and the club slips into oblivion and becomes just another mid-table side. We, the fans, deserve better.

The manager said judge me after three years. Well he’s broken all the wrong records, spent and wasted over 300 million pounds and the team is rapidly losing it’s identity. If Rodgers worked for a corporation or in another industry he would of been shown the door long ago.

Thanks Brendan but enough is enough.

Do you think that Brendan is the right man to take the club forward?

I am a lifelong Liverpool supporter from Huyton Liverpool just like Stevie G and go all over the world supporting my team I go the games in my wheelchair as I suffer from Cerebral Palsy however that does not stop me having a ball cheering on the World’s Best Team.
I write a weekly column talking about various topics whether that is tactical analysis of matches, opinion pieces, looking through the archives of previous matches, former players and current articles on Brendan and the first team.
It is great being part of the first class writing team at Live4liverpool.com and bucking the trend in being the first woman to write for the site.

I have absolutely zero respect for this joke of a coach now. I’ve never known someone to be as stubborn and ignorant as Rodgers. This isn’t the first time hes landed in hot water, and its the same old parrot response of ” I won’t leave unless the owners want me gone.” Well guess what, sometimes you just need to put pride aside and realize the vast majority of fans want him gone and that should be your cue to leave. Can’t stand watching Rodgers boring nonsensical football.

I agree with all of the above comments , and one other damning stat that I read the other day and it was this, in the last 19 games, Liverpool under ‘bodger Rodgers’ have only managed to score 18 goals, this is just not good enough ! Further, I commented that when bodger Rodgers sold Luis Suarez that he must be the only man in history to have sold gold and in exchange bought pewter, 300 million pounds later how is ‘the great pretender’ occupying the position of LFC manager, because he is absolutely ‘clueless’ when will FSG get rid of this man ? It should have happened end of last season, and FSG promised us ‘a world class manager’ where is he ?

Excellent post which took the words right out of my mouth/head. One slight amendment though….the LFC crown is too big for Brendan and slipped over his eyes some time ago. Even his GIANT ego won’t save him now.

Give Brenda 10 years from today as LFC manager, he would never achieve or win something for the club. He’s complaining lacking right tools (players) and missing players like Suarez. Was he the one that signed Suarez? Brenda, were you not the one that said Suarez was not bigger than the club. Of course, no player is bigger than the club, but you have spent over £300m buying players without anything to show for it and yet you can’t replace Suarez. The simple truth is he does not have the tactical and technical expertise expected of any manager at 8this level of game. He keeps gambling with team formation. He’s a dirt in a big ocean tossing to any direction by the wave of the ocean. Brenda, you can give what don’t have. Please, quit.

This charlatan has destroyed all credibility we had in Europe, and now he has turned his intentions towards the premier league…Shocking manager who play’s one striker up front against Carlisle FFS…

I disagree with most of the article which I find over-emotive, very subjective, and yet another cheap shot at a manager who 18 months ago was heralded as the best thing since sliced bread. No context. He took over a club and a team in disarray. Most of us didn’t want him and didn’t think he had the necessary experience or expertise. I disagreed with a number of signings, mostly Allen and Borini. He proved us wrong. In spite of arriving to a mess with our two star players Carragher and Gerrard close to the end. Problems with Suarez. Problems from Sterling. Problems from Gerrard. Sturridges injury. We reached and failed in two semi finals returned to the champions league with a new team and a load of new players to bed in. We looked likely to get 4th until Gerrard ruined the home game with a united. Yes, after the debacle against Stoke, I thought and expected him to be sacked, albeit harshly. But FSG backed him and he made what we all agreed were good improvements to the squad. To then about turn in a sense of panic after six league games would be an utter disaster. Think it’s time our supposed famous supporters grew a set and supported the team, the club, the management, rather than appoint themselves as expert pundits. Our home support is a disgrace and much worse than the team or the boss. Maybe we should sack the fans ……

No he wasn’t the best thing since sliced bread 18 months ago . For anyone who understands football and listens to his pass the opposition to death philosophy , could see that the team suddenly had unbelievable pace and lethality that they evolved into an almost perfect counter attacking team which naturally frightened the opposition from going forward. Gerrard and Suarez were managing the team , with those two chasing every lost cause no other player dared to not chase back or give 100% , he’ll even big headed sterling was worried of getting an earfull if he got greedy. Every team has a style of play , identity, what’s ours ? We don’t have one . We should have spent all Suarez money on one player , all sterlings on another , like di maria . Our youngsters like texeira are more than capable to cover

Sorry I didn’t say ” GREAT READ ” and all spot on 😉 Rodgers OUT !!!

  • Ekene says:

He’s bought some good payers that fit into the FSG structure of how they want to do business and run the club (buy young talents with sell on value in the future) but the sad truth is that he doesn’t know how to light up their spark! He doesn’t know how to mess with their psychology to get them gingered up and ready to die on the pitch like our opponents do when they come to Anfield. He’s zonal marking system is useless! And liverpool players are the easiest to dribble in the whole of the league! They don’t go in for the challenge when they are close to the ball hence allowing oppositon to line formation and do anything they like with the ball. Our reaction rate when we are not with d ball is slow and all we think about is retreat to go and form a wall instead of hustling for the ball and getting it back before it leaves our midfield into our defensive positions. I honestly don’t want to go on before I loose my temper again like I did last season when I stopped watching our matches before christmas….I think klopp is the best coach to work with these players. He’ll know what to say to them to get them buzzing on the pitch. He and Diego Simeone are kinda like my two favourite coaches cos of how they motivate players to give their best.plus I like what he did to mourinho in the champions league (durtmond vs madrid). I think it’d be nice to see that rivalry re-in kindled.

  • alfonzo mo says:

whether we like it or not rodgers will be here till christmas regardless of results. get used to it. we have to realise that once the wrong decision was made not to sack him in the summer, fsg will resist the urge to get rid till then, largely due to their incorrect decision to heavily back him and, allow him to, by enlarge, purchase his prefered signings, as opposed to the committe’s. i have to say the season we came second was one of the best season ive watched us since we last won the league, and whatever amount of credit rodgers deserves for that he deserves some. however i personally feel his ego and his need for total control over transfers has split the dressing room. the split i believe is essentially between comittee transfers and his picks. this i believe has created the chasm between groups and consequently it has forced his own hand into playing strange formations, idiotic player selections and incomprehensible changes in ‘piloshophies’ especially the change from the use of a high intensity pressing game. while i have some sympathy, he knew the transfer policy. the owners should have stayed with a dof and got someone to work under those conditions or give rodge full control because as we now see, the halfway house compromise with a transfer comittee hasn’t worked and hopefully the next boss will have a definite structure and understanding of recruitment whether that be sole control or a director of football.
