Don’t get too excited just yet, Luis isn’t on an easyJet flight back to John Lennon, at least not yet. No, the Suarez the press in Italy are linking to a move to Anfield is former Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez.

The 28 year old only joined Fiorentina in the summer but has found his time on the field to be limited, amid rumours of a fall out with his manager Paulo Sousa.

The midfielder had previously played for Atletico for five seasons, playing close to 200 games, winning La Liga, the Europa League and Copa del Rey, with Suarez playing a key role under Simeone.

What doesn’t quite make sense is where Suarez would fit in, with Liverpool being quite well-stocked in the midfield department. Or, as may be the case, who Suarez would replace in the midfield. Obviously, there are still question marks over Joe Allen’s future, while Klopp will still be running the rule over the likes of Lucas Leiva, Emre Can, James Milner and Jordan Henderson.

According to reports during the summer, Liverpool had made a move for Suarez before the Spanish midfielder moved to Italy but Fiorentina may now consider selling Suarez in January in an attempt to cut their losses.

Would Suarez be an improvement on the Reds’ current crop of midfielders? Let us know your thoughts on the 28 year old in the comments.

I don’t think so , definitely not a 28 year old midfielder, we already have an experienced Milner. Bring in some young blood , an attacking midfielder.
