FSG have taken the huge decision to part company with Brendan Rodgers

It may well feel like a long time coming after the disastrous finale to last season, but FSG have taken the huge decision this evening to ‘part company’ with Brendan Rodgers.

The decision comes after a run of results that have left Liverpool as close to the bottom as the top of the Premier League and a poor draw away to Everton on Sunday lunchtime appears to have been the final straw.

In truth, the problems stem much further than the results this season. The rot began early last season and, a brief spell of good results after the New Year aside Liverpool have been poor for the best part of the last 18 months.

The club’s owners released the following statement tonight, via the club’s official website Liverpoolfc.com: “We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Brendan Rodgers for the significant contribution he has made to the club and express our gratitude for his hard work and commitment.

“All of us have experienced some wonderful moments with Brendan as manager and we are confident he will enjoy a long career in the game.

“Although this has been a difficult decision, we believe it provides us with the best opportunity for success on the pitch. Ambition and winning are at the heart of what we want to bring to Liverpool and we believe this change gives us the best opportunity to deliver it.

“The search for a new manager is underway and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner.”

With rumours of the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti having met with Fenway Sports Group, it promises to be a very interesting and pivotal period for Liverpool.

“For not buying a striker like Aguero” – yeh, because there are loads of them available, and they would all be willing to come to Liverpool.

That am so happy is an understatement to describe my feeling. Wow! I’ve longing for it a long time ago. I just pray that FSG employ a good manager who will put a round peg in a round hole not otherwise like BR. Thank God!
