What a difference a week makes. Prior to the Bournemouth cup game mid-week, all talk was of Liverpool struggling to secure a win in the manager’s first few games but less than a week on and a win in that cup game and a highly impressive 3-1 at Stamford Bridge today has changed things. Quite dramatically.
Of course, the win itself was awesome for Liverpool fans. Winning against Chelsea has been a real rarity since the end days under Rafa Benitez (or King Kenny) but Klopp took a totally different attitude to Stamford Bridge and it was clear his players had shook the shackles off a little more.
Even going a goal down after a few minutes wasn’t enough to stem the tide of Liverpool’s high-energy, no fear game and every player gave their all. Some were better than others, admittedly but not one man has given less than 100% for the new manager at Chelsea.
But the most impressive aspect of the win today was how the players took Chelsea apart and did exactly what their manager asked of them. The message: do your job and the result will come and boy, did it!
