Kolo reckons the players owe the fans a big win in the derby on Sunday

Liverpool will take on their city rivals Everton on Sunday, in what will be a rather rare occasion indeed, in that Everton are the favourites to win a Merseyside derby.

And while all talk is of Brendan Rodgers and his future in the wake of yet another disappointing result last night, many Liverpool fans will be wondering what exactly the derby holds. Never fear, fellow Reds, as Kolo is demanding a derby win for us fans.

At last, you might think, somebody involved at Liverpool Football Club is finally putting the fans first! But, unfortunately, as Toure is unlikely to feature on Sunday, he’ll have little say in how the match goes.

Speaking to: “It was a frustrating night for us.

“When you create so many chances like that you have to kill the game. We didn’t do that well enough and we conceded a soft goal.

“One mistake can cost you and that’s what happened tonight. In the end we ended up with a point from a game we should have won.

“It’s happened a number of times this season – not being clinical enough and then giving away soft goals. We have to be better at both defending and scoring goals.

“I don’t think we under-estimated Sion. It was just that we didn’t have that killer instinct. When play against a team like that you need to get the second goal to kill them mentally.

“Now we need to focus on Sunday. This is the derby and it’s going to be a big, big fight.

“It’s a good time for us to get back to winning and give something to our fans.

“At the moment we feel that they aren’t very happy with us. This is a good time to show them that we want to make them happy. We can do that by beating Everton.”

On that Kolo is 100% right, Liverpool fans are not happy at the moment, mostly with Brendan Rodgers but definitely also with the players who don’t seem to be acquitting themselves with quite as much zeal as we’d like to see.

But if the players are set up in the correct way on Sunday and go into the game with that attitude that was present – at times – last Saturday afternoon then there is a chance the Reds can triumph.
