After a very solid start to his Liverpool career with a 0-0 draw against Tottenham, Jurgen Klopp will now turn his attention to the Europa League tie against Rubin Kazan on Thursday before the home Premier League game against Southampton at the weekend.

Klopp may look to field a similar team against Rubin Kazan to the one that started against Tottenham, in order for the players to gel under his methods.

Alternatively, there could be some changes to see how others in the squad get on in a matchday situation and adjust to the demands of their new manager.

Moreover, in the long-term Klopp will almost certainly field a different side to the one that featured in his first match as Liverpool, with injuries, form and quality all playing an important part.

Part Two will now conclude my belief on who would make it into Klopp’s strongest Liverpool side, firstly by looking at who was unfortunate in missing out on a midfield place.

James Milner certainly falls into this category, though Klopp may well see him as an ideal player in his team with the pressing game the German manager is likely to employ, having played Milner on the right side of a midfield three against Tottenham.

Milner could be converted into a defensive midfielder as Jordan Henderson is better going forward than his fellow Englishman, and Milner would offer greater mobility than Lucas Leiva, but the partnership between Henderson and Milner hasn’t really worked this season and they look unsuited together as a midfield duo.

Meanwhile Emre Can will really need to fight for his place and prove he can adjust to the pace of the Premier League in midfield before coming under serious long-term contention. However, he impressed last weekend and if he can continue to perform at that level and buy into Klopp’s methods then there may be a place for him yet.
