After another painfully poor second half from Brendan Rodgers’ team, there can be no doubting that Everton’s Roberto Martinez will have left Goodison Park the more disappointed of the two managers tonight after Liverpool somehow escaped with a 1-1 draw.

The Liverpool manager was all smiles after the final whistle and if his post-match interviews are anything to go by he clearly feels it was a point well-earned.

However, while the claims prior to kick off were that Rodgers could well be out of a job if his team suffered a defeat, it was a very close run thing and the way in which LFC backed off and allowed Everton to dominate much of the half will have raised many eyebrows.

But while he may believe Liverpool achieved a good result, those claims of the home side manager’s earlier in the week about Liverpool having spent a fortune (meaning they should be far superior) will come back to haunt Rodgers as he seems quite content with mediocrity.

What the result means for Rodgers’ future we will no doubt discover over the next day or so. In the meantime, there are a handful of Reds’ players that need to take a long, hard look at themselves too after meekly submitting to a below-strength Everton side in the second half.
