Emre Can battles in the Reds midfield

It could’ve been a better start for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool but then, it could also have been a lot worse considering his sides’ current injury situation and the clean sheet was immensely welcome.

A side containing a 20 year old striker making his full debut worked as hard as we’ve seen a Liverpool side work in years, with fast, incisive passing and movement the order of the day in the first half.

But as the second wore on every man in Red began to visibly tire. It is, without a doubt, going to be a work in progress. Klopp is going to demand a serious improvement in the players’ fitness but there were many promising signs, including a much more solid defence, the aforementioned clean sheet and the performances of one or two players.

I'm a 32 year old Liverpool fan, living in the heart of the City Centre. I've supported the club since the day I was born and have been writing articles for L4L for over 3 years, writing close over 350 articles in that time. My favorite player of the past generation is Sami Hyypia.

I am the current editor for L4L, with my day job being in R&D for the NHS.
