The 26 year old striker is in high demand after his start to the current season

The inevitable links to German based or, in this case, just outright Borussia Dortmund players, continues today with Liverpool again being linked to the Bundesliga second-placed side’s star striker.

Liverpool have been linked with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a number of occasions in the past, but his form this season has seen him hit the big time and is now rated as one of the best strikers in Europe after scoring an astonishing 22 goals in just 20 games this season, seeing him match and overtake the feats of the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and even Bayern Munich’s own Robert Lewandowski.

The 26 year old Gabon international has been at Dortmund since moving from Saint Etienne in 2013, and his record has always been very impressive, averaging around 1 every 2 games.

But this season he has taken his goalscoring game into the stratosphere and is one of the hottest properties in Europe. And, as you can imagine, the Germans have opted to name their price for the player. A price which matches a striker that has scored more goals than games he’s played.

So, for the measly sum of £42 million, you could sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Just let that sink in..

Now, the question that remains is: could Liverpool afford that and, if they could, would they be able to see off the sort of opposition that would no doubt go in for him? With only Arsenal being named as potential suitors along with Liverpool, it’s not hard to imagine the striker could move to Anfield.

Dortmund are obviously attempting to put off any potential suitors with such a high asking price though. So if there is any hope off bringing the 26 year old to Anfield, then that might have to wait until next summer.

At that sort of price, do LFC have a chance of signing the striker, or should we set our sights elsewhere? Let us know your thoughts below.

Do you realy think that a Dortmond goal scoring forward to move to a midd table team in the PL?
money is not the main subject here, he is looking for a CL club who can pay the transfer fee as well as as high wages with a concrete promise of CL for the next season.
Liverpool can pay the fee & wages but can not garantee a top 4 finish.
so he will move to a team with onle 1-2 decent player at most.

YES WE DEFINITELY NEED A GUY LIKE HIM . with Daniel Sturridge not exactly reliable due to his forever on going injury problems and Benteke our only star striker and also known to pick up knocks I think we could use the fire power and another star striker to strike a little fear into opposition because lets face it origi aint that man
