The young winger was on fire for Liverpool last night

Young Liverpool star Jordan Ibe has impressed many with his form since returning to the club from his loan spell at Derby County last season, but had seen his progress stall badly over the past few months.

Since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp though, the 19 year old winger has gone from strength to strength over the past month, and has started to really kick on. It is clear that the new manager rates the youngster, with his post-match hugs and playful slaps becoming a theme.

Ibe scored the winner for Liverpool in Russia last night, prompting a gleeful ‘Ibee’ from his manager as he ambled onto the pitch to give his young star another hug.

And Klopp spoke after the game last night (via the Liverpool Echo)about how far he believes the match-winner can go. He said: “Jordon is a really good lad.

“He’s a skillful player and a big talent – fast, strong, good at dribbling

“He has to learn so much but has a real good base. He feels good in this moment. You could see it in this match.

“Like everyone he has a long way to go. If he’s prepared to listen then he will be very good.”

Ibe has already shown that he is willing to listen and learn from those with more experience; something that many young players are missing these days. And with a world class manager like Klopp guiding him, he can certainly go very far.

The first goal for any player is a huge step though, and the hope now is that Ibe can begin to blossom into the player we saw set the Premier League alight on his return last season.

Can Ibe be a key man for Liverpool this season? Let us know your thoughts below.
