Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho returned to form on Saturday

After a few weeks of increasingly average performances and not a single goal since the first match of the season, Philippe Coutinho has probably been having his toughest spell since joining the club. At least if you consider how much his reputation has grown since joining LFC.

But Saturday morning at Stamford Bridge saw the Brazilian show signs that he had passed the worst and was on the rise once again. That, and those two lovely goals that basically won Liverpool the game, of course.

Despite his recent form though, few Liverpool fans had any real concerns that Coutinho was the real deal. And his manager is no different, after he expressed his delight with Coutinho after his thrilling goals on Saturday.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp said: “Phil is a very good example of our situation.

“He is brilliant – everybody knows he is brilliant.

“But there are moments in your life where you have to work for it to look easy. It wasn’t easy, but he stood in the game and was concentrated.

“He had some passes he is able to play much better. But then he was concentrated, he helped us and made the difference. That’s very important.”

Many onlookers had begun to raise concerns that the 23 year old would struggle with the extra work that would be expected of him under Klopp.

But Saturday showed that thr midfielder was more than capable of adding the extra work to his game, without it affecting the match winning side of his performances.
