The Reds legend is welcome to train with Liverpool under Klopp

It’s been barely six months since he left Liverpool and the name ‘Steven Gerrard’ is still on the lips of many fans, with most wondering whether the legendary midfielder would have still had a role to play at the club had Klopp taken over sooner.

But the Liverpool manager has already had his say recently, stating that the player was welcome back to Anfield any time, just not as a member of the playing squad.

And today, Klopp has again reiterated that Gerrard, now plying his trade at LA Galaxy, is more than welcome to come and train with the team at Melwood during the off-season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, via Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp has denied that any such arrangement has been agreed upon, just yet.

He said: “No, he is on holiday and that’s good. He’s not had that much holiday since he left Liverpool and went to LA, so now he is enjoying his holiday.

“It was good. He is a really, really good person. I liked it and enjoyed the time we spent together.

“We spoke about many things, but nothing is happening. He doesn’t want to play next week, he doesn’t want to train next week – he is on holiday. That’s what I can say.

“If he does want to train [here] then of course he can, there’s no question. He can use Melwood as he did for about 500 years, so there’s no problem!

“Then he will go back to LA and train and play there.”

As honest as ever from Klopp, who many are no doubt still hopeful will relent and invite Gerrard back at some point, but even having Gerrard around Melwood training with the other players would no doubt be much welcomed by players and fans alike.
