If Liverpool hadn’t appointed Jurgen Klopp as manager little over a month ago, it’s debatable whether Bild would be running quite so many LFC transfer stories, seemingly on a daily basis.

What isn’t on doubt is that we wouldn’t be seeing so many German based players being linked. But the German publication are at it again this morning with claims that Liverpool are keen on signing Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The Swiss international joined the Germans in 2012 from that well-known conveyor belt of quality Swiss players, FC Basel. He has since played over 110 games for the club and developed into a tough, no-nonsense, intelligent midfielder and is no doubt destined for a move to one of Europe’s top clubs.

And according to reports, that top club could be Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen and add depth of quality to his squad.

Unfortunately, those same reports claim that Liverpool and Arsenal will go head-to-head for the 23 year old, with the Londoners also looking to strengthen in the centre of their midfield.

With so many Bundesliga based players currently being linked, you can never be sure where the truth lies but Xhaka is certainly a midfielder in the Klopp mould and any move for the player would certainly improve the Reds’ squad. But with January over a month away, we’ll just have to wait and see.
