If the 4-1 victory over Manchester City on Saturday is any indication, Liverpool have finally hit their stride under Jurgen Klopp. It was not just the result at the Etihad that was impressive at the weekend, but the manner in which Liverpool dispatched the Premier League title favourites.
Despite leaving Christian Benteke, Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Ibe on the bench, the Reds dominated the home side (whilst not dominating possession, it has to be said), with a brand of pressing, counter-attacking football that has captured the imaginations of, not just Liverpool fans, but neutrals and pundits alike.
And former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, believes that we are already seeing an example of the effect Jurgen Klopp can have on this Liverpool squad.
Speaking on talkSport’s Sport Breakfast show, Murphy said: “The one word that I think when you look at Liverpool now is freedom. They all look freed up to make mistakes and just play.
“That third goal they scored at City [Roberto Firmino’s strike] was a goal full of confidence, creativity and endeavour.
“It had everything, that goal, and long may it continue.
“I like his [Klopp’s] positivity and the way he speaks. Everything he says is positive.”
Despite the defeat to Crystal Palace two weeks ago, the win over City has again shown that Klopp has added extra dimensions the squad already and the team can hopefully take those sorts of performances to Anfield too. Starting against Bordeaux on Thursday night.
Murphy continued: “I’ve seen a lot of performances like that in the past when Brendan Rodgers was manager when they seemed to get it right. But the Chelsea and Man City wins away from home deserve credit.
“You can’t get too carried away just yet because it is short term. He [Klopp] needs to prove himself long term.”
Wasn’t it Danny Murphy who said Liverpool have made big mistake in making Klopp there new manager back tracking now I see
Yeah your right eating his own words now lol ????
