Could the star man be returning to the squad for Saturday?

After what seems likes weeks of bad news for Liverpool on the injury front, there may finally be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with several players close to match fitness or nearing a return to training.

But none will lift the spirits of Reds more than the return of Daniel Sturridge and in very bold move the striker has declared himself fit for the trip to Man City this weekend.

It had seemed that the match may have come too soon for the 27 year old but he believes he’s ready and has declared himself fit.

Speaking at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel, the Liverpool striker said: “I’m fit and ready to go and it’s going to be a great time for me.

“It’s been great under the new manager. I’ve been back training for the past couple of days and I was training when he first arrived.

“It’s an exciting time to be at the club and I’m enjoying working with him and the style of football. It’s important for us to understand what he wants us to do.”

Sturridge has yet to play a game under Klopp but has been impressed with what he’s seen so far. And after victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge a few weeks ago, Dan is certain the team can kick on after the international break and push the current top sides.

He continued: “I was on the outside but it was great to see the boys win at Chelsea.

“We had a disappointing result last time out against Palace but it’s important to move on.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world in terms of competitiveness. There are teams up there this season you wouldn’t have expected.

“It’s up for grabs this season, there isn’t a real favourite. It will come down to who can be the most consistent.”

Do you think Sturridge should be given a start on Saturday evening, or should he be eased back in? Let us know your thoughts below.
