Will Jurgen Klopp deliver the presents Liverpool fans want this January?

Liverpool have somewhat of a mixed record in January transfer windows in recent years, with only Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho standing out as excellent business.

And Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reluctant to make any major deals in January, due to inflated prices and a lack of quality. But he has insisted that, if necessary, the Reds will make some moves.

Klopp was pressed for some information regarding Liverpool’s potential transfers in January during his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon and wasn’t as forthcoming as the press may have hoped for.

He said (via Liverpoolfc.com): “There’s nothing to tell about [transfers].

“It’s how I’ve said all the time, we try to be prepared but this window in January is not the easiest one.

“There are big prices in the market and things like this.

“I’m not the biggest friend of the January transfer window but, like I always said, if we have to react we will react.

“I’m not long enough here… maybe a player will leave, I don’t know. If he comes to me and says, ‘it’s not a situation I want’, then maybe we have to react.

“Or another injury. We have a lot of games in the transfer window so that’s what I always try to say.

“We are not planning only to get more players and more players and more players. That’s not how I think we should work.

“But if we have to react, we will react.”

There have been calls from the majority of fans in recent weeks to make changes in a number of positions, with a new goalkeeper and at least one central defender on the top of most fan’s Christmas wishlists.

Although Klopp appears to suggest that injury is the most likely reason for making any new signings, it’s highly unlikely he’d be willing to miss out on any quality players that become available, particularly after seeing so many of the current squad look below par in recent weeks.

What position do you believe is the one that really needs addressing in January? Let us know your thoughts below.
