Lewandowski is on Klopp’s radar but highly unlikely to end up at Anfield

Don’t get too excited, because if reports that Real Madrid are willing to pay north of £75 million for the Bayern Munich striker are true, then it’s a practical impossibility that Liverpool would be able to compete.

But the Liverpool Echo is reporting this afternoon that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen for the club to keep an eye on the Munich striker’s situation, as it appears he could well be moving on in the summer.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker is again putting them away with unnerving consistency this season, having already bagged 25 goals in all competitions, a record which marks him out as one of the top strikers in Europe.

The Polish star has been a target for many of Europe’s top clubs since his early days at Borussia Dortmund, and it was perhaps inevitable that, much like all of Dortmund’s star players, he would end up moving across to Munich.

However, with the player potentially moving on in the summer, Real are apparently favourites. A large part of that is probably that they’re one of few clubs that could afford his fee.

Jurgen, having unearthed Lewandowski in his Dortmund days, is supposedly keeping a close eye on this one as it progresses though. Should Madrid make a move, you can probably write the Reds off of having any chance.

As the Alex Teixeira situation is demonstrating at present though, don’t underestimate Klopp’s presence giving the Reds increased pulling power over the summer. Particularly if a trophy or two are acquired before the end of the season.

Although, considering we’re currently haggling over a few million for the Brazilian, it seems a bit of a stretch that we’d hand over more than double that for the 27 year old striker.

Have the Reds got a chance in hell of signing a player like Lewandowski? Give us a shout with your thoughts below.
