Klopp will be wondering how on earth he didn’t pick up all three points

The home defeat to Manchester United today was just further evidence of two things: 1. You just don’t know which Liverpool team you’re going to see on any given day and, 2. There is at least 50% of the current squad that are not up to the levels of quality Liverpool need.

As the months have steadily progressed under Klopp, he will have started to get an idea of which players might have a future under him and which won’t.

Sadly for those players, not a single one of them has yet convinced him that they are worthy of staying beyond the summer. We all knew that Jurgen wouldn’t be making any big decisions in January, either outgoing or incoming, but he will have started to get an idea.

Today, at least half the starting lineup added more black spots to their scorecards.

Liverpool utterly dominated perhaps the worst Man Utd side in the past 30 years, yet somehow conspired to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Almost 20 shots on goal garnered just 3 on target (4 if you’re being generous), but the away side needed just the 1 on target to take all 3 points.

It’s the story of the past 18 months for Liverpool and one that needs to come to an end soon. Liverpool should now probably look to the cups for any success this season, as by the week the team falls further and further behind their top-4 rivals. For now, on to the player ratings.

Klopp is making absolutely no move to clean up the mess in the team this January window; no mention of buying or getting a striker on loan. Defending set pieces is shambolic and even our delivery and utilisation of set pieces is awful.
