Job done.

It may have taken Liverpool’s youngsters (and a smattering of senior stars) over 180 minutes to find a way past League 2 side Exeter City, but a lot of young men came of age during that time and we, and not doubt Jurgen, found out a lot about their character.

The likes of Brad Smith, Connor Randall, Cameron Brannagan and Kevin Stewart all showed their mettle against a side that had come close to putting them out in the first game to come through in what was, by the end, a fairly comfortable night at Anfield.

There will much for Klopp to think about, certainly the performances of Tiago Ilori, Brad Smith, Joao Teixeira and senior midfielder Joe Allen. It’s possible we might be seeing more of the former three as the second half of the season progresses. After a couple of goals and impressive cameos in his last few games, it’s almost certain we’ll see more of Joe Allen.

So, on to the next round and a visit from West Ham. For now, check out our player ratings below.
