The Malaga midfielder could be a smart signing by Klopp

Not a day goes by that Liverpool aren’t linked with some international footballer or other, and usually it’s your usual run of the mill guff. But today, the press have at least attempted to mix things up a little bit. Only a little bit, though.

For starters, Read Liverpool claim that Malaga’s Spanish international Ignacio Camacho was at Melwood with his father on Thursday, with a view to signing for the club in the summer.

The 25 year old has been at the La Liga side since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2010 and has amassed over 120 games for the club since, scoring 11 goals.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Camacho is not necessarily a household name, but having won even a single cap (which came in 2014) must be a sign that he’s at least a solid player. And if he’s been to the city with his dad, then it must be serious!

Elsewhere (and here’s where it gets a bit more predictable), the club is reportedly still keen on Borussia Dortmund’s Germany international, Ikay Gundogan, according to the Daily Express.

Gundogan has been at Dortmund since 2011, when he joined from Nurnberg but talks over a new contract have hit rocky ground, with the player yet to sign a new contract at the club. The 25 year old midfielder’s contract is due to expire in 2017 and the Germany side will be keen to have him tied down, with reported interest from Manchester United as well.

The 16-times capped Germany international would be a real coup for Liverpool and having his former manager (and the man that brought him to the club) at Anfield could be a real carrot for the Reds to dangle in front of the player.

Should it be a case of ‘either, or’ for these two midfielders, which do you think would be the better acquisition given Liverpool’s current needs? Let us know your thoughts below.
