Klopp was reportedly not happy after last night’s defeat, and rightly so

It’s night’s like last night that will only further anger Liverpool fans at the lack of signings in January. Reds everywhere watched, once again, as their team dominated possession, only to meekly submit after conceding a goal against the run of play.

Coming from behind and showing grit against a side like Norwich is one thing, but failing to do it against sides like Leicester (who remain top of the league) is how these players will be judged. And judged they are currently being, not just by us – the fans – but by the man who actually matters: Jurgen Klopp.

There were some mumblings of discontent toward Klopp following the game but those kinds of fans are thankfully in the minority and wouldn’t be missed. The real fans can see that the club has a much deeper issue that wouldn’t be solved with just Alex Teixeira, and one that Klopp can’t sort overnight on his own.

The real test comes in the summer, when he can begin his overhaul. For now, most of these players best start playing out of their skins for the manager. As he said on Monday night, his players get one year ‘contracts’ with him and, as many once again demonstrated last night, there are only a handful who won’t be at risk of having their contracts cut short in the summer.
