Liverpool kickoff at Southampton in less than an hour, looking to leapfrog their opponents and close the gap on the top-4. Three points could, potentially, also see the Reds close the gap on Thursday’s opponents, Manchester United.

Van Gaal’s side play Manchester City this evening and a defeat to their city rivals could result in Liverpool ending the day ahead of them on goal difference.

With Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Roberto Firmino all out, there are three changes, with Jon Flanagan coming in to take the captain’s armband for the first time, whist Joe Allen and Divock Origi complete the three changes.

So take a look at the team Jurgen has gone with to take all three points today:

Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Flanagan, Allen, Can, Coutinho, Lallana, Sturridge, Origi.

Subs: Ward, Toure, Benteke, Henderson, Ojo, Skrtel, Smith.
