The Bayern star is again at the centre of LFC transfer news today

Some huge news emerged overnight regarding Bayern Munich star, Mario Gotze, in that he reportedly has his heart set on joining up with his former manager at Liverpool in the coming summer.

The 23 year old attacker has had a season to forget at Bayern, after falling out of favour (and also falling out) with Pep Guardiola. And despite the fact that Spaniard is Manchester City-bound in the summer, Gotze is believed to be wanting to move to Anfield to play for Jurgen Klopp.

The news comes from Paul Joyce of the Daily Express, who claims that Gotze has ‘privately’ indicated that he wants the move and the fact that the midfielder has just the one year remaining on his contract supposedly means he’ll cost very little compared to the usual transfers for players of that quality.

There’s absolutely no doubt that the German international would be a massive signing by Klopp and Liverpool, sending a message out that the club finally means business again and the style Gotze plays would fit neatly into the ‘gegen-pressing’ style that the Liverpool manager is trying to bed into his current first team.

If, as reported in a number of other sources, the club could snap up one of the most potent attacking midfielders in the world for as little as £15-20 million, it would surely be considered one of the big bargains of recent seasons and would almost certainly go some way to replacing the loss of Suarez a couple of years later.

Do you think that Liverpool have a chance of snapping Gotze up? Let us know your thoughts below.
