If last Sunday was anything to go by, Liverpool are going to need some defensive reinforcements come next season. Particularly if fans get their way, and the likes of Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Alberto Moreno get shipped out.

But never fear as, according to reports in the past 24 hours, the club are hot on the tail of seemingly every defender that has set foot on the European continent.

The names that have cropped up this time are Schalke’s (yes, another of their players) Sead Kolasinac and an old friend that we’ve not heard of for a year or so, Barcelona’s Marc Bartra.

According to Bild, Liverpool are going to face competition from Chelsea for the 22 year old German-born Bosnian star who has been a first-team regular for the past four seasons and has ten caps for his country.

The defender is highly regarded in Germany and will no doubt command a tidy sum but at 6’0, and given his style of play, he would certainly be a seemingly ideal Klopp sort of player.

Another rumor suggests that Barca’s man Bartra is a big target, and he has again been the victim of the Catalan club simply having too many good options in most positions, and may look for a move in the summer, according to El Confidencial.

The 25 year old would undoubtedly be a first choice for many sides but his game time has been limited in recent seasons, with the Spanish international being primarily a backup and, now in his mid-20s, the defender is reportedly keen to find a club where he’ll be a first team regular.
