Bloody hell. What a day of mixed emotions.
The elation we all felt so thoroughly at half time very quickly dissipated in a game that saw two Liverpool players perhaps end their own careers with incredibly inept displays, while Klopp ended a game for the first time with many feeling he made some poor decisions.
After effortlessly breezing past Man Utd in the Europa League in the past 10 days, it had begun to look as if Liverpool’s players were starting to get the hang of what Klopp wanted but old habits die hard, as they say.
Watching the capitulation in the second half was hard to stomach, however it serves as a timely reminder that there are still too many players that just don’t suit – or aren’t good enough for – Klopp’s style of play. And, at a time when we’re all guilty of getting carried away, will help to bring us all back down to earth.
