Lallana believes the team spirit and form stand the Reds in good stead ahead of the derby

Liverpool take on Everton in the Anfield leg of the Merseyside derby tomorrow night, with both sides entering the game in much different form. For Everton, a win is in dire need, with no victories in their last five, with the last win coming against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

For Liverpool though, things look decidedly different, having won 3 and drawn 2 of the last 5. The recent record in the derby could also not be any different, despite there being no winner in the last 3, Liverpool haven’t lost a derby game since October 2010, winning 4 and drawing the other 7.

And one of the stars of the season since Jurgen Klopp arrived, Adam Lallana, is determined for the the team to win their first Merseyside derby since he arrived. Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Lallana said: “It’s been disappointing [that] we’ve drawn all three but we’re unbeaten in a while [against Everton]. Regardless of that, we’re in good form, confidence is high and we’re playing well.

“There’s no better feeling than winning games. You just want the next game to come as soon as possible.

“At the minute, we’ve got a lot of games – Wednesday, Saturday and Thursday. The manager changes things up and keeps everyone fresh and wanting to do well when they come in.”

A last minute win over Dortmund last Thursday, sandwiched in-between two fairly comfortable Premier League wins over in-form Stoke and Bournemouth, has left Liverpool feeling confident of scoring goals, with 10 in the last 3 games and Lallana believes the fans can again play their part.

He continued: “[Thursday] was quite remarkable and a big reason why we got over the line in the end.

“[Everton] is one of the [games] that you look on the fixture list at the beginning of the season.

“I’m sure the fans will turn up again, and if they’re a patch on what they were the other night, then it’ll be some atmosphere.”
