The Malaga midfielder could be a summer signing by Klopp

Despite having a half dozen players that can play at central midfield, it is an area where it’s clear Jurgen Klopp wants to see big upgrades in the summer.

At the moment, Jordan Henderson and Emre Can are the usual pairing but almost every midfielder currently at the club has been rotated in and out of the team, with Lucas Leiva an early favourite before Joe Allen started pushing himself into contention.

The James Milner central midfield experiment lasted about as long as it took Jurgen to get a foot through the front door.

On the surface such rotation might suggest a strength in depth. But the reality is much different, as the centre of the field has been as much a bone of contention throughout the season as the centre of defence and improvements are highly likely.

One such upgrade could come in the form of Malaga’s one-time Spanish international, Ignacio Camacho, with Liverpool reportedly very keen to meet the player’s release clause soon. At least, that’s according to the Daily Mirror.

The former Atletico midfielder has spent the best part of his senior career at Malaga, making his true first-team breakthrough in 2012-13, when he became a regular. Since then, the player hasn’t looked back.

The Red’s interest was first reported during the January transfer window, with a summer move suggested as the more likely outcome. Meanwhile, Spurs have pulled their usual trick and taken an interest themselves in a player who, as things stand, is available for as little as £10 million.

The La Liga side are reportedly keen to ensure he isn’t allowed to go so easily and want to have the player sign a new contract with, no doubt, a much more attractive release clause. Hence why Liverpool are determined to get things tied up so quickly. Apparently.
