The young Monchengladbach star could be on the move this summer with the Reds amongst the interested clubs

Another day, another German-based star linked with a move to Liverpool. This time it’s a new name, at least, so we should be thankful for that, if nothing else.

The name on everybody’s lips this morning is that of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Mahmoud Dahoud, who has been setting tongues wagging in the German top-flight with some stand out displays this season.

The 20 year is a Syrian-born Germany U21 international, who is a dark horse to join up with the German side for the Euros this summer and Jurgen Klopp is reportedly looking to jump the queue ahead of his old side to sign the young midfielder.

Dahoud  joined Monchengladbach in 2010, waiting 4 years to make his senior debut and has barely looked back since, making over 30 appearances this season, scoring 4 goals, with 8 assists.

The player is seen as something of a ‘box-to-box’ midfielder, with great energy and athleticism and superb technique. Something that was on display in the Champions League this season, as he impressed against Man City.

The Manchester side are also amongst those having taken a keen interest in the midfielder, with Chelsea and Arsenal also reportedly tracking the young star.

The biggest stumbling block for the Reds could be lack of Champions League football next season, particularly with Monchengladbach again pushing for a spot in next season’s draw.

But, as we’ve seen already, Klopp is often a big pull himself and it remains to be seen whether the 20 year old will see a place in Europe’s top-tier competition as a pre-requisite for any summer move.
