The big centre back ran to celebrate with Kolo Toure

After Mamadou Sakho viciously headed home the second Liverpool goal in 3 minutes against Everton last night, Reds fans watched on as the big French centre back sprinted across the field toward the bench.

Sakho rushed into an embrace with Kolo Toure, lifting the veteran into the air, as Jurgen Klopp looked on with a massive grin on his face. A natural reaction to scoring from a player that hardly scores, you might thought. You’d be wrong.

Because apparently, that day, Toure had told Sakho he was going to score so Sakho was obviously running to dedicate his goal to his team mate.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the match, Sakho said: “Kolo told me this morning I would score again so that’s why when I scored I thought of him and ran to celebrate with him.”

The goal was just the start of a rout that continued into the second half, as Liverpool turned the screw even more of their city rivals. As much in response to Funes Mori’s awful foul on Origi as any real need to embarrass the away side.

And the fans again played their part in a fantastic night, generating a brilliant atmosphere that egged the players on to go for the throat, something Sakho believes went hand-in-hand with the performance.

He continued: “It was a very, very good atmosphere, a very good result for us, and I think we deserved it because we played very well.

“The 12th player was with us – the fans. It was a really good night for Liverpool.”
