Klopp will have seen positives and negatives in today’s home draw

Depending on how you look at it, today’s game at Anfield could be either 2 points lost or a point gained. Liverpool were oustanding in parts. For most of the first half, the home side were comfortably the better side and could’ve gone in a couple up at the break, if not for the opposition goalie.

The second half was a more mixed affair, with Spurs finishing the stronger and both sides having plenty of opportunities to win it. Encouragingly for the Reds, they managed to hold the title challengers at arm’s length for most of the game and, despite Pochettino’s side having 18 shots, only 5 were on target.

Unfortunately, that Harry Kane took one of those shots was telling, as he equalized mid-way through the second half, at a time when Liverpool’s tails were up. The game descended into an end-to-end slug-fest following that and a draw was probably a fair result at the finish.

For Liverpool, there were some good performances, but some familiar negatives raised their ugly heads; namely Liverpool’s inadequacy from set-pieces and Mamadou Sakho’s penchant for regularly shocking displays of ineptitude.

Thankfully, Dejan Lovren was in the complete opposite frame of mind and shone through to ensure the home defence coped – mostly – fairly comfortably.
