Porto midfielder Nacine Brahimi is “very close” to signing for Liverpool, according to Portuguese sports publication Abola. The Algerian international is expected to leave the Portuguese club this summer, and the newspaper suggests that the 26 year old played his last game for Porto in the Portuguese Cup final defeat to Braga last weekend.

The Algerian has a buyout clause of €60million or £45.5million and they believe that Liverpool are prepared to pay close to this figure to get their man. Porto however, only own 50% of the Brahimi’s sporting rights with the other half owned by a third party. The Reds will need to buy out both Porto and the third party to complete the transfer. He scored 9 goals in 44 appearances for Porto lasy season as the Portuguese club finished third behind league champions Benfica and Sporting Lisbon

In anticipation of Brahimi’s departure from the club, Porto are already lining up a bid for a striker Henrique Dourado, currently on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes from Brazilian side Mirassol, using the money from the sale of Brahimi to finance the transfer.
