Former Reds striker John Aldridge believes that left back Alberto Moreno needs a wise old head to help him improve his defensive game.

Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldo advocated that the Reds should attempt to sign a player similar to Felipe Luis of Atletico Madrid who could give Moreno some much needed guidance:

“The lad has genuine ability but he suits being a left back rather than being in a flat back four.

“You can’t wholly blame him, but he has made some real mistakes. We need a top left back, quite simply. I don’t know what happened to Jose Enrique, he downed tools and wasn’t bothered, but now we need someone top class in that position.

“Someone with the quality of Atletico’s Felipe Luis, for example. Moreno can learn off whoever we bring in, but we need experience in that position next season.”

A move for Felipe Luis would be unlikely as he will play for Atletico Madrid in his second Champions League final in 3 years this weekend. He has also already spent an unhappy spell in England at Chelsea in the 2014/15 season before moving back to Spain and performing well under Diego Simeone once again last campaign. A player of similar ilk though would certainly be helpful although the Reds are only currently being linked with the inexperienced full back Ben Chilwell of Leicester City. The Echo has stated that Klopp is interested in signing the 19 year old this summer.
