Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, according to German newspaper Bild. Liverpool have also been rumoured to be interested in the 24 year old after Superdeporte journalist Dani Merono reported on his Twitter feed that the Reds have been tracking the German international this season.

Mustafi actually started off his career at Everton in the club’s youth academy but he never made a first team appearance for the Toffees before he was sold to Italian club Sampdoria in 2012. His impressive performances in Serie A helped him to get a late call up by Joachim Low for Germany to be part of the squad at the 2014 World Cup, replacing the injured Marco Reus.

Although Mustafi himself got injured in the tournament, he did enough to impress Valencia for them to buy the player for €8million in August 2014. He has been one of the stand out players for the Spanish club as they have struggled in La Liga this season. Bild estimate however the player has a release clause of €30 – 40million.
