Javier Pastore’s former coach in Argentina believes the midfielder has lost his edge while playing for PSG. The 26 year old is rumoured to be a target for Liverpool after France Football magazine claimed Reds’ chief scout Kevin Hunt was in Paris last week to run the rule over the player.

Angel Cappa, Pastore’s former coach at Huracan in Argentina believes Pastore needs to have the freedom to be creative in order to play at his best like he did at his previous club Palermo. When interviewed by the BBC (quotes via calciomercato.com), Cappa said:

“Pastore was one of the best but he lost his football in Paris. At Palermo, they gave him the freedom to create, as he was at Huracan,”

The 69 year old was then asked about whether he would fit in if he moved to Juventus, another club rumoured to be interested in the Argentinian playmaker.

“It depends on how the coach wants to use the player. If he uses him to press and defend Pastore is not needed.”

Certainly if Cappa’s statement about Pastore being unwilling to press is true, Jurgen Klopp will most likely move onto other targets who would fit into the German manager’s system.
