Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the signing of Kevin Volland from Hoffenheim on the club’s official website. In recent weeks the German international has been linked with Liverpool with German newspaper Bild confirming the Reds’ interest in the player.

Volland has had an average season for Hoffenheim with eight goals form 34 matches, and has subsequently missed out on a place at this summer’s European Championships in France with the German national team.

The Reds meanwhile are close to signing anther German player, according to the Guardian, with 22 year old goalkeeper Loris Karius on the verge of joining in a £4.7million deal from Mainz. Jurgen Klopp played for and managed the German side, and he no doubt has some inside knowledge on the young player. Rather than being a direct replacement for the inconsistent Simon Mignolet, Karius will more than likely be purchased to give the Belgian more competition for his place with Adam Bogdan expected to depart this summer.
