The Man City goalie could be a target for Liverpool this coming summer transfer window

After several horror shows from Simon Mignolet this season, and the news that Danny Ward will be loaned out next season, Liverpool are chasing two of the Premier League’s top keepers to take over as number one next season. That’s according to reports in the last 24 hours anyway.

Great news for Reds fans or course, if true, with the news via the Daily Mirror that Liverpool will prepare a bid for Man City number one Joe Hart, with Pep Guardiola reportedly planning to bring in a new goalie in the summer window.

Hart has been at City since 2006, playing more than 340 times and winning the title twice. It’s unclear what sort of fee City would want but, at 29, Hart could still command a fair sized fee, particularly as England’s number one.

Elsewhere, website Tribal Football are claiming (via the Daily Express) that Liverpool are planning a summer transfer for Thibaut Courtois who is reportedly available to leave Chelsea after incoming manager Antonio Conte sanctioned his summer sale.

Still only 23, the Belgium number one is a hugely talented and experienced keeper, with over 250 career games and played 34 times for his country. Courtois has struggled at the club this season though, through a combination of injury and losing his place to Begovic.

The Express cite an article in the Times from a week ago for Courtois’ valuation, which you’ll be glad to know is a snip at only £50 million. The story had some credence until you realise Liverpool would have to blow no doubt their entire budget to sign the Chelsea star, at that price.

There’s absolutely no doubt either of the pair would be a significant upgrade on Mignolet but unless the Belgian keeper’s purported valuation drops significantly, a move for Hart would appear far more likely, should Pep Guardiola look for replace him once he arrives in Manchester.
