Liverpool have had a bid rejected by Lorient for their young full back Raphael Guerreiro, according to the club’s vice president.

Alex Hayes told theĀ Ouest France newspaper (quotes via Maxifoot.fr) that they had rejected 3 bids from three different clubs, including Liverpool, and are expecting a fourth club to bid for the player soon:

“Nobody wants to see Raphael leave, especially the president. He will only be transferred if a club has made an offer we can not refuse. Four foreign clubs, including Liverpool and Dortmund, have made an offer, the fourth is expected soon to do so, but for now none have satisfied us. We’re calm. We don’t need to sell to balance the books.”

Guerreiro is a Portuguese international but he was born in France and has spent his entire senior career playing in the French leagues. The 22 year old started out at Caen before moving to Ligue One side Lorient in 2013. He has made over 100 league appearances but the left back is the target of some Europe’s biggest clubs with the Reds, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona also tracking the player according to reports in Spain. We will have to wait and see if Liverpool make an improved second bid for the defender, or whether they move onto other targets.
