Liverpool are interested in signing Napoli midfielder Lorenzo Insigne, according to Tuttosport. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also looking at the 24 year old, the Italian newspaper reports.

The Reds have been linked with Insigne’s team mate Gonzalo Higuain by the Mirror in recent days but Tuttosport say Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is confident of keeping the striker due to the player’s €93.4million (£71m) release clause.

Laurentiis is not so confident of keeping Insigne though as the Italian international has been the subject of interest from numerous clubs. Atletico Madrid made a €30million offer before opting for Benfica’s Nico Gaitan instead while Barcelona sporting director Roberto Fernandez has spoken to the player’s representatives.

Barca will only bid if Neymar departs the club this summer, which is unlikely, leaving the Reds and PSG as the other options for the player. Laurentiis is hopeful however that he can sit down with the player soon and convince him to stay.
