Liverpool are in the race to sign Palermo’s midfield playmaker Franco Vazquez, according to the Corriere Dello Sport. Owner Maurizio Zamparini confirmed earlier this month that he wants to sell the Italian international abroad and the Italian newspaper believe that Palermo will be prepared to sell to a foreign club for approximately €20million or £15million.

The 27 year old has also been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur with Mauricio Pochettino seemingly keen to bring the player to White Hart Lane, but the player is believed to prefer to stay in Serie A.

The main issue for Italian clubs is price as Zamparini claimed back in November that he would only sell Vazquez to AC Milan if they paid €30million. He is wary of selling to a league rivasl once again after Paulo Dybala’s success at Juventus since Palermo sold the player last summer. A move to the Premier League is more likely because of the fee being demanded and the fact that Zamparini is desperate to cash in on the player before he himself sells Palermo.
