Liverpool, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are all interested in signing Rennes attacking midfielder Ousmane Dembele, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper believes that both the Reds and Manchester City have “officially expressed their interest” in the French U21 international while Dortmund have already had a €15million rejected by the French club.

Rennes are hoping to trigger a bidding war between the three clubs and are hoping either the Reds or City can make a higher offer than Dortmund.

The 18 year old has had an excellent season in Ligue One with 12 goals and five assists in 25 matches so far this campaign. The player’s agent previously denied a report in German newspaper Bild that an agreement had been reached with Dortmund, but L’Equipe believes the young starlet is keen to force a move away from Rennes, with Germany currently the most likely destination if no bids are received from the two English clubs, or from PSG who have also been linked with the player.
