Liverpool are targeting Germany left back Jonas Hector, according to Italian website Calciomercato.com. There has been growing speculation about a need for a new left back after Alberto Moreno’s poor showing in the Europa League final with many pundits including Jamie Carragher and Steve McManaman criticising the Spaniard’s display.

Hector has been linked with the Reds in the last few months. He has 12 caps for Germany and this season he has been a regular for his club side Cologne playing 34 matches in all competitions, mostly at full back.

The 25 year old and club mate Timo Horn have been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar for a while, according to the German media. An alternative to Hector maybe Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell. The 19 year old is of interest to the Reds, according to the Liverpool Echo. The young full back spent part of last season on loan at Championship side Huddersfield Town whose manager David Wagner worked under Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund.
