Liverpool are tracking young Basel striker Breel Embolo, according to Bild. Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have previously been interested in the player, the German newspaper reports, having had two bids turned down in the past and they may attempt a third bid in the summer, with the Reds and newly promoted Red Bull Leipzig being their competition for the player’s signature.
Embolo made his debut for Basel in March 2014 in a Europa League last 16 tie against Red Bill Salzburg. He has subsequently become a regular for the Swiss side. After impressing for Basel, he now has nine caps for Switzerland after making his international debut in March last year, scoring his first goal against San Marino in a 7-0 win in October.
A pacey, powerful forward, Embolo would certainly fit into Jurgen Klopp’s style of play, and this season the 19 year old has scored 13 goals in 39 matches in all competitions for the Swiss Super League club.
