Kalmar FF are talking to Liverpool about the possibility of bringing in Reds youngster Taiwo Awoniyi on loan to the Swedish club. Awoniyi has been playing in Bundesliga 2 for FSV Frankfurt this campaign but has struggled for game time as the German side have been fighting relegation.

Kalmar’s Sporting Director Thomas Andersson-Borstam is quoted by Fotballskanalen as saying that talks have already taken place with the Reds regarding Awoniyi’s future:

“We are in contact with Liverpool about having Taiwo on loan. It can be anything, we’ll see what happens. We have had a good and positive dialogue, and so we’ll see where it lands.”

Awoniyi has been on loan at Frankfurt this season but has only scored one goal in 11 appearances so far as the German club sit 16th with 29 points with just two games remaining. The striker signed from Imperial Academy at the end of summer transfer window in August and was immediately shipped out on loan to Germany. With the loan spell not going to plan though, it may be best for the 18 year old to have more game time playing in Sweden.
