Besiktas have an agreement in place with Martin Skrtel to sign for them, according to Turkish website Fanatik. Negotiations are said to be going on between the Turkish club and the Reds regarding the transfer fee but the Slovakian’s agent Mithat Halis told the Telegraph that they had received offers from Turkey and that the Turkish champions were in pole position.

The same report also stated that the 31 year old has already told Jurgen Klopp that he is “ready to leave” Anfield after 8 years. The player has struggled this season with injuries limiting him to 28 appearances.

Since returning to full fitness he has found himself fourth in the pecking order behind Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure at centre back, and he may want to end his career playing more regularly in a different country. Besiktas will be playing Champions League football next season and this may be another reason why the centre back is keen to leave Merseyside.
